The time has finally arrived. The mass murdering manical dictator Saddam Hussein is dead. Is this the exclamation point of our army's work in the gulf? Saddam is gone but what is left in his wake? What sort of monsters fill the void where he once occupied?
Don't get me wrong he is a bad man and the world is better place without him. My fears are that without a good plan to build a better Iraq and the fact that he will be a martyr to some in the Middle East, this only means trouble. It means trouble in a very troubled land.
It seemed so far off and abstract that he would be dead some day. We saw the insanity of his trial stretch out in front of us like OJ's. It seemed like he would never be convicted( or not in or lifetime). The circuslike atomsphere would continue and Saddam would die of old age.
Saddam is dead. Ring the bells. Fire your automatic weapons in the sky. Celebrate the beast is dead. But remember there will always be more like him.
